The first private museum in Russia was opened in 1993 in the former residence of a merchant named Soboliov. Its extraordinary owner, Djon Mostoslavski, shares his passion as a collector and often provides his own delicious commentary on the tours. The collection includes troika bells (short concert), irons, old clocks, musical instruments, all in working condition, and late-19C icons with gilded backgrounds commissioned by merchants.
