The building, dating from 1900, is Poland's most important contemporary art gallery. Zacheta Narodowa Galeria Sztuki's collections were originally more imposing than today, but at the start of the war they were stashed away at the National Museum, where they remain. The museum is especially renowned for the quality of its temporary exhibitions.
