Although it was built by the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre, today the chapel of the True Cross belongs to the Order of Malta. Its circular plan is in the fashion of Early Christian baptisteries and a ring shaped corridor runs round a small kiosk made up of two rooms, one over the other, where the order's secret ceremonies took place.
