The Michelin Guide's review
This small Mozarabic monastery was founded in the 9C, in all probability by Hispano-Visigoths who sculpted it out of the rock. Occupying a surface area of 272m2, the site comprises a store, monastic quarters and the church, whose frescoes date from the 18C. In June every year, the Virgen de la Cabeza (Virgin of the Head) is ceremoniously taken from the church to the chapel next to the monastery.
