The Roman road from Pula to Rijeka passed under this double arched gate, built between the 1C and 2C. It was bordered, beyond the amphitheatre, by the necropolis. Today it opens onto a garden, which leads to a huge Austrian-era building, now home to the Archaeological Museum of Istria and to Zerostrasse underground galleries, which date back to the Austro-Hungarian period.
