Procida

Well worth the diversions
Natural site
The Michelin Guide's review
This small volcanic island, whose craters have been levelled out by erosion, remains the most unspoiled of the islands in the Bay of Naples. The ochre houses, washing at the windows, fishermen bringing back their nets: the port, like the whole island, is indifferent to the passing of time. Take a look at Terra Murata, a fortified medieval town and, further south, the Punta Pizzaco lookout, commanding splendid views of the rim of a crater. Continue to Marina di Chiaiolella, which faces the little island of Vivara.
