The Michelin Guide's review
The basilica was built in one go between 1092 and 1109, under the direction of St Hugh, abbot of Cluny, but only the structure now remains. Ornate decoration and massive structures were abandoned in favour of an abstract sense of beauty conducive to prayer. Note the elegant asymmetrical façade and the austerely decorated 11C right tower. The interior symbolises the Trinity: three bays, three blind arches above large arcades surmounted by three windows.
