The Michelin Guide's review
In 1941, the Nazis established a concentration camp in Natzwiller where 10,000 to 12,000 deportees died. The European Centre of Deported Resistance Fighters created on the site chronicles the rise of fascism in Europe and provides an insight into the horror of the concentration camps. You will also see former barracks, the crematory oven, prison cells and gas chambers, not far from the improbable camp commander's house. It is the only camp to have remained intact in Western Europe.
