The Michelin Guide's review
Not far outside the village is La Taillanderie, a 19C farmhouse-and-workshop, where scythes and other agricultural tools were manufactured up until 1969. When it was in full swing, the workshop had 25 employees, most of whom lived on site. The Arcange, a tributary of the Lison, provided hydraulic energy. As you look around, you will learn about the different steps in manufacturing a scythe. You can also see the impressive hydraulic wheel (1891) that powered the drop hammers, and the remarkable wooden bellows system.
