The Michelin Guide's review
A mixture of rusticity and sophistication, this 18C Bas-Poitou abode, an intriguing mixture of a chateau and a farmstead, is named after the estate's owners from the 12C onwards, the Chabots. A 500m/1,640ft² multimedia display charts the life of Charrette (captured on 23 March 1796 in the surrounding woodland) through models, reconstructions and audio resources. Then explore the house itself: built in the 15C, restoration work has restored its late-18C aspect.
