Church of St Francis Solano
Michelin Guide
Religious monument
The Michelin Guide's review
This 17C-18C church was built on the site of the birthplace of the patron saint of Montilla, who was an evangelist in Peru. The façade, which does not have the appearance of a religious building, is preceded by an atrium that acts as a porch. A statue of the local patron saint dominates the entrance. Gilded stone decorates the building, which stands out for its symmetry and elegance. A tower was added to the church in 1910. The bell tower and steeple are both covered with azulejos. Note the large altarpiece inside the church.
