The land around Lough Gur is strewn with archaeological vestiges, standing stones and stone circles. The Heritage Centre explains the history of the site since the Neolithic. There is a secondary itinerary, which passes to the east of the main road to Ennis; it gives visitors the opportunity to see vestiges from all ages since prehistory.
