Golubac Fortress
Michelin Guide
Well worth the diversions
Civil and military monument
The Michelin Guide's review
The imposing Golubac Fortress, built at the beginning of the 14C on the banks of the Danube, is one of the most important defensive buildings in the country, and was the site of many battles. Alternately in Serb and Turkish hands, it is located on a mountainside and its distinctive feature is its nine towers built one above the other. Between the vestiges of the walls the ruins of the castle can be made out. A must!
