The Michelin Guide's review
This hamlet is home to more than 400 drystone huts, ringforts and underground passages. The beehive huts are called clocháns in Gaelic. Their origin, which remains shrouded in mystery, is thought to date back to the end of pagan times or the start of Christianity. Well protected by the mountains and cliffs, the houses had several rooms. The group may have formed a sort of town or, at least, a wider community.
