Slea Head (Ceann Sléibhe)
Michelin Guide
Well worth the diversions
Natural site
The Michelin Guide's review
Marked by a cross, like many high or exposed sites, Slea Head commands an awe-inspiring view over steep slopes. On a clear day, Valentia Island can easily be seen. The outline of Blasket islands is visible to the west, while to the north, you will be able to admire the graceful curve of the beach of Coumeenole, where some of the scenes of Ryan's Daughter were shot. Small stone huts are scattered over the slopes, some of which are covered in earth and grass.
