The Michelin Guide's review
The striking round fort, greatly restored in the 19C, commands a spectacular view. Measuring some 23m/75ft in diameter and with walls 4m/13ft thick, it is one of the most impressive of Ireland. The site has been the scene of rituals since time immemorial. The first fort is thought to date back to the Bronze Age in the 5C BCE. A trail behind the fort leads to a well below, where, according to legend, Saint Patrick baptised the founder of the dynasty.
