Civil and military monument
The Michelin Guide's review
Consisting of eight pavilions connected by footbridges, Suan Pakkat Palace houses a fine collection of Khmer statues, as well as objects belonging to the royal family, pottery from Ban Chiang (famous for its red and white spiral patterns) and remarkable black and gold paintings on lacquer dating from the 18C, which depict, among others, the life of Buddha. Surrounded by the city's modern buildings, this palace is a haven of peace and tranquillity in a noisy and frenetic district.
