The Michelin Guide's review
This imposing Georgian manor house on the James River dates back to the 1750s. Around 1930, architect Duncan Lee extensively renovated the house, blending hybrid Colonial-style furnishings and a rich, comfortable setting. In the vast garden, slaves quarters have been recreated to illustrate the living conditions and cultural traditions of enslaved African Americans in the Tidewater area during the 18C.
