The museum tells the story of the priory as well as containing a remarkable collection of early Christian crosses. These large crosses go back to the Christian period of Whithorn indicated individual tombs. The oldest Christian funerary monument in Scotland is the Latinus Stone, which dates back to 450 AD. It is engraved with the name of the man who erected it. Two other examples can be seen in Kirkmadrine.
