The Michelin Guide's review
Destroyed during the 1944 uprising, after a two-week battle that was fought even inside the building, this handsome Baroque edifice was regularly the setting for confrontations between students and the communist authorities. The Christ in the entrance, carrying the Cross on His back, became a symbol of Warsaw's martyrdom. The church is also home to Chopin's heart (second pillar on the left side of the nave) and the ashes of writer Władysław Reymont.
