The Michelin Guide's review
Located on the banks of the St Maurice River, the ironworks were in operation from 1730 to 1883 and give rise to Canada's first industrial community. Today a designated national historic site, the place revives the industry of the past by taking visitors back to the economic and social context of the day. See objects manufactured at the ironworks and numerous vestiges of the machinery: blast furnace, charcoal shed, workers' quarters, upper forge, mill etc.
