The Michelin Guide's review
Chuo-dori, the main shopping street, at the crossroads of Ginza, boasts a different institution on every corner. The Wako building, one of the oldest department stores in Ginza, would have been over 100 years old if it hadn't been hit by the 1923 earthquake. Its clock has been keeping time since 1898. A couple of feet away is the prestigious Mitsukoshi shop with its mouth-watering pastries. The crossroads is also home to the San-ai, a glass cylinder that soars up into the air. The first two floors are taken up by the Doutor café. A little further on is the Shiseido Building by Ricardo Bofill, which houses an art gallery and two panoramic restaurants.
