The Michelin Guide's review
This estate was built for the Mahon family in 1696. The elegant Palladian-style villa, decorated with beautiful furniture, remained in the family until 1979. The interior, which is unchanged, includes a nursery, classroom and a kitchen. The stables house the fascinating Famine Museum which retraces the history of the Great Famine and explores the heavy responsibility borne by the British colonial administration for the catastrophic extent of the famine.
