Dominating Stresa and Lago Maggiore from a height of 1 491m, the Mottarone mountain peak can be reached either via a panoramic toll road, the "Strada Borromea", or via cable-car from Carciano. The summit commands a superb panoramic view which takes in Lago Maggiore, Lago d'Orta, Lago Mergozza, the Alps and the Monte Rosa range.
