Drombeg stone circle consists of 17 evenly-spaced stones which form an enclosed circle of 9m in diameter. The entrance to the circle is marked by two taller stones facing an altar on which the rays of the setting sun fall on winter solstice. Note the cooking pit nearby where stones that had been heated in the fire were placed and used to boil water.
