This elegant square is bordered by two identical palazzi facing one another, with a third building providing perfect perspective and architectural harmony at the end of the square. At the centre of a magnificent star motif on the ground stands the majestic statue of the philosopher emperor Marcus Aurelius. Access to the esplanade is via a long ramp known as the Cordonata, the widely spaced steps of which offer a gentle climb to the square. One of Rome's highlights and not to be missed!
