Site 3, Plain of Jars
Michelin Guide
Well worth the diversions
Historical and archaeological site
The Michelin Guide's review
This site on the Plain of Jars is not the most interesting from an archaeological perspective, however it stands in a bucolic setting surrounded by rural life in the neighbouring fields. Access is via a small bridge and a path which passes though rice paddies and fields growing market produce. Low walls made from dried earth mark out the parcels of land here, which are irrigated by narrow water channels. The path climbs to a main group of around forty jars beneath the cover of the trees.
