The Michelin Guide's review
Nore boasts a superb stave church. When it was enlarged in 1683, the architects reused panels painted in 1656 without worrying whether the motifs matched. The rebus, visible on the panels of the north and south walls beneath the gallery, are copies from an illustrated Bible printed in Copenhagen in 1710. The central pillar is inscribed with runes. Outside, above the right arm of the transept, note the delicate frieze carved in the wood.
