It was in this villa purchased in 1921 in the rustic Garavan district of Menton that Vicente Blasco Ibanez, a committed Spanish Republican and writer finally found what he been searching for throughout his life of exile, namely peace and isolation. In the Fontana-Rosa garden he recreated a corner of his native Valencia through colourful ceramics, pavilions, benches, pergolas, ponds and the busts of his favourite writers.
