The Michelin Guide's review
Built during the life of Rameses II, this temple is dedicated to the glory of the Pharaoh, as shown by the military, cultural and family scenes that decorate it. Note the fragments of the monumental statue of Rameses II in the first courtyard. The second courtyard (head of Rameses II) leads to the Hypostyle Hall, which is decorated with polychrome reliefs illustrating the conquering of the Fortress of Dapur. Finally, in the Bark Room, you can observe the wholly intact astronomical ceiling. Unfortunately though, overall, the temple is badly damaged.
