The Michelin Guide's review
This is none other than the former St Sophia Cathedral, built in the early 13C in a fine Gothic style. For three centuries, the Frankish kings of Cyprus were crowned beneath its lofty vaulted ceiling. No sooner had the Turks taken the city in 1570 than they turned it into a mosque. While the paintings and stained-glass windows have disappeared, a few sculpted images of saints and kings remain on the façade, as does an Agnus Dei at the entrance of the former chapel to the left of the nave.
