The peninsula of Island Magee can be reached by a small ferry for those on foot, and is also accessible by the road from Whitehead, 15km south of Larne. Its outer coast is lined with fine, sandy beaches, but the peninsula is unfortunately covered with high-voltage lines from an enormous thermal power plant, which considerably diminish its charm.
