This is the oldest part of the Alhambra, an austere fortress surrounded by walls and flanked by towers. To the south of the Adarves gardens, you will find a marvellous view over the woods of Alhambra. Inside are the vestiges of the military quarter dominated by the massive shape of the lookout tower which has a magnificent panoramic view. To the west, the Vermeilles towers used to form part of the defensive walls of the old town.
