The Michelin Guide's review
The Peace Palace (Vredespaleis) houses the International Court of Justice, the Permanent Court of Arbitration and The Hague Academy of International Law. Built in a neo-Renaissance style by Louis Cordonnier, the building was inaugurated on 28 August 1913. Its construction followed a series of initiatives to promote peace and disarmement. The American Andrew Carnegie offered funds, the Dutch government proposed a park and each nation contributed to furnishing and decorating the palace.
