Religious monument
The Michelin Guide's review
In Wat Phan Tao, you'll be struck by the delicate wood carvings in the wihan, where local woodworkers have surpassed themselves in their use of teak, the main resource from the neighbouring forests. The roof, pediment and lintels are all richly decorated with remarkable gilded carvings in pure Lan Na style. Inside the temple, a majestic Lan Na-style Buddha sits imposingly on the altar, surrounded by his disciples.
