The Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall (he was the first president of the Republic of China) is now used as a concert hall. The choice of materials symbolises the links between China and the West, with the use of blue clay from Foshan for the tiles, Italian marble and French mosaics. The bells on the roof are supposed to spread the revolutionary message, while the calligraphy hanging on the roof spells out Sun Yat-Sen's motto: "Everything below the sky belongs to everyone".
