Civil and military monument
The Michelin Guide's review
The old naval shipyards, or royal arsenal, situated at the bottom of the Ramblas, are the largest and most complete medieval shipyards in the world and are one of the finest examples of Catalan civil and Gothic architecture. Following the discovery of the New World, the Drassanes were knocked down and turned into an artillery quarter. Given to the town by the military authorities in 1936, the oldest part now houses the Museu Marítim.
