The dam is striking for the boldness of its design, power of its installations and sheer size. The reservoir is 25km in length. Two ski-jump style channels create a water flow of 4 000m3 per second. Downstream, a viewpoint (accessed on foot from the D 16 on the right bank of the Dordogne) offers a fine view of the dam and valley below it.
