Monte Gordo Natural Park
Michelin Guide
Well worth the diversions
Natural site
The Michelin Guide's review
Since 2007, the Monte Gordo Natural Park has been protecting the surroundings of the highest point on the island (alt. 1 304m): high altitude forests, rivers, endemic species... This untamed, inhabited territory, criss-crossed by waymarked hiking trails, is undoubtedly benefiting from Cape Verde's most successful conservation programme. To discover its richness, visit the park office on the outskirts of the village of Cachaço.
