The Michelin Guide's review
Prince William Sound is protected by the Chugach Mountains to the north and by the Kenai peninsula to the west, offering a picture of tranquil marine wildlife that you can observe by boat or kayak. Inland, it is connected to the scenic Richardson Highway leading to Valdez, the last town of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline where giant tankers come to fill up with raw oil. The town of Valdez was rebuilt in a safer area after the tidal wave of 1964.
