The Michelin Guide's review
Spread over 45 000ha of rice fields, marshland, forests, cliffs and sugarloaves, this spectacular site represents the third largest karst formation in the world. It owes its name to the mist (Rammang-Rammang) that shrouds the summits at dawn and whenever it rains. A canoe ride takes you to a Bugis village built on stilts, from where trails lead to various viewpoints and a honeycomb of caves in the mountains, some of which boast prehistoric paintings.
