The Michelin Guide's review
A meal at Comme chez Soi is like biting into a slice of culinary history. Its emblematic Art nouveau Horta interior is classy and characterful, dotted with stained glass and elegant details, while the wine cellar (Riwyne) offers a more contemporary “private dining” experience. The rich heritage of this establishment founded in 1926 owes much to Pierre Wynants. Now, the fourth generation, Laurence and Lionel Rigolet and their son Loïc, is pursuing the story. Together they continue to serve traditional signature dishes, like mousse of Ardennes ham and sole fillets in a Riesling and shrimp sauce. Chef Rigolet lavishes great care and attention on the plating, to which he adds a modern twist, while his mastery in the realm of sauces cannot fail but impress. Neither does he balk at introducing contemporary culinary techniques or exotic flavours. Comme chez Soi definitely remains a landmark of Brussels’ fine dining scene and it can be depended on to deliver first-rate traditional fare, albeit with an eye to the future.
